Reading the water
Reading the water
Flat water reading · Sunsplash Park
We teach stand up paddleboarding in Daytona Beach with a $40 30-minute tutorial — board, paddle, and leash included.
Full SUP lessons are available on request, and paddle board rentals run from $30 an hour if you'd rather just get on the water.
Call (386) 308-9951 to set up a time.
01 — On the water in half an hour
Paddleboarding is the fastest way to feel at home on the water — most people are standing and paddling within their first half hour. In the 30-minute tutorial we cover the paddle stroke, stance and balance, how to fall safely, and how to read the conditions before you head out.
Want more than the tutorial? Full SUP lessons run on request — call and we'll set one up around the tide and your schedule.

02 — When SUP runs
BEST WINDOW — MORNING GLASS · LIGHT WIND · AROUND HIGH TIDE
SUP wants the opposite of a surf lesson: no waves. The best window is usually early morning around high tide, before the sea breeze fills in and while the water is still glass. We teach at Sunsplash Park when conditions are calm — and if the day reads wrong for beginners, we say so and pick a better time with you.
STANDING NOTE, NOT A FORECAST — RYAN CONFIRMS THE WINDOW WHEN YOU CALL.
03 — The tutorial, then the water
$40
Florida weather moves fast — if lightning or unsafe conditions come up, the lesson is cancelled on the spot and rescheduled with you directly. Safety first, always. Lessons are rescheduled, not refunded.
04 — Rentals
Paddle board rentals start at $30 for an hour — leash included. See all rental rates on the rentals page.
